My Friends Celebrate 62 Years of Marriage……Wow and Congratulations

Good Morning Dear Readers,

I was searching around this morning looking for some writing inspiration and I came across a picture on Facebook of my dear friends and a women who is a true inspiration to me and yesterday was their 62nd wedding anniversary.

I looked at their picture and it made me so happy to see them, both happy, healthy and smiling and still in love.  I know this because I am an honored visitor at their home and I see how they interact with each other.  They should give relationship lessons.  I bet they would have lots of takers.

How do you make it through 62 years?  Really, I have no idea but I have some ideas.  Love, mutual respect, honor, trust, commitment, goals, plans.  I will have to ask them!!!!!!

I think my sweet Mr. would have been the one I could have made it 62 years with but we met in our late 50’s.  We have all those things, love, respect, honor, trust, commitment.  I am a lucky lady.  Mr. and I enjoy every day we are given, REALLY not kidding.  We don’t nit pick each other or find fault very often.  We both get it that we are lucky or blessed or however you want to look at it.

To Us

It seems to me this life can be a throw away society:  throw out your trash, throw out your old stuff, throw out your old clothes, throw out your old partner, husband, wife, lover.  Hmmmmmmm.

Does this throw away society make it easier to get a divorce or leave or move on??????   I would have to say yes.  It appears to me if couples are not feeling the love, the connection, the commitment, the physical attraction, the irritation of each other, LET’S FIND A NEW PARTNER.  HMMMMM.

People don’t see 62 years in their future of making their relationship work.  Because we live in an immediate gratification world.  We don’t want to do the work I guess.  Remember, The Hole in The Fence:  The Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side, well guess what, usually, it’s not.

So, in honor of my friends 62 year old marriage, God Bless You.  I know she will see this because she is a reader.  God bless the life you have, the inspiration you give others, your wonderful family and thank you for being my friend and mentor.

Love and Peace,

Thelma, The Mouthy Mermaid

Looking Through The Hole of Life……….

Good Morning Dear Readers,

As Louise and I are sitting outside this morning drinking Diet Pepsi, we are watching her dog, Little Buddy.  Little Buddy’s life is sitting on the hot sidewalk in our backyard looking through the hole in the fence.

Louise and I started laughing and talking about “Looking Through The Hole of Life.”

It is Little Buddy’s life joy and mission to stare out into the alley all day.  What does he see out there, what is he thinking?

Sometimes we all are looking Through The Hole of Life……………………

We are looking for love, for affirmation, for peace, for fun, for relaxation, for whatever.  We, as HUMANS continue to be always looking for something or some such!!!!!!   Why, why are we not happy with all our blessings and all our gifts?  I don’t know, maybe it’s a HUMAN THING.   The grass is always greener on the other side, right or not?

I think Little Buddy is looking at birds, at the trash truck, at the alley action and a way to escape, because you see Little Buddy is a constant runaway, a seeker constantly looking for a way to get out of the yard!!!!!!  We have lost him a few times.  OOOOPS.

Are we as HUMANS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A WAY OUT, A WAY TO ESCAPE?  A better something, what do you think?

Have a Fabulous Week,

Love,

Thelma

Holiday Time for Parents Who Lose Children – The Mouthy Mermaid Doesn’t Even Know Where To Go With This??

Good Morning Dear Readers,

It is such a pleasure to be back and to be blogging for me again and to be interacting with ya all.

As this weekend rolls around I want to talk about something that is never very far away from me.  What do we do about Holidays when we lose a child especially to DRUGS or anything.

So far this year, I have been OK, OK is a very vague word and it’s a very weird and vague feeling.  I really guess, VAGUE is the way I feel about all of this.

What is the real definition of VAGUE:

From my friend https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vague

Definition of vague

  1. 1a :  not clearly expressed :  stated in indefinite terms vague accusationsb :  not having a precise meaning a vague term of abuse

  2. 2a :  not clearly defined, grasped, or understood :  indistinct only a vague notion of what’s needed; also :  slight a vague hint of a thickening waistline hasn’t the vaguest ideab :  not clearly felt or sensed :  somewhat subconscious a vague longing

  3. 3:  not thinking or expressing one’s thoughts clearly or precisely vague about dates and places

  4. 4:  lacking expression :  vacant vague eyes a vague stare

  5. 5:  not sharply outlined :  hazy

Well, I guess that truly sums it up, hazy, vacant, longing, etc.  Lots to think about.  VAGUE……MY NEW WORD.

Stories of these kids who have passed away from DRUG OVERDOSES, keep coming to me.  I met a server at our local breakfast restaurant, who recently lost her daughter, a dear friend, her step-daughter, and old friend of Mr’s son, and the stories keep coming and the DRUGS keep taking our loved ones.

I have been on a crazy journey this last year and have found a voice about this terrible epidemic.

I was honored to be on a Christian radio show  around the anniversary of Michael’s death to talk about his. And a friend marched at a march for Opioid Addiction in Washington D.C. and shared Michael’s story.  So, I am a mother with a big mouth and a big voice about all of this.

His story was in our local paper on our celebration of the Day of The Dead:  Can I say how surprised to see this on the Front Page:

‘My whole thing is letting his spirit go’

By:  Kathleen Allen, In The Arizona Daily Star

Andrea Bryant‘s son, Michael Elliott, was 33 when he died of a heroin overdose in March. “This will be my first time walking, but I really feel I need to do it for the spiritual aspect,” she says.

Michael had a troubled adulthood, and while she never wavered in her love for him, Bryant holds on to the boy she raised.

“The Michael I loved was such a cheery, curly-haired redhead. A funny, sweet kid. He was the kid the teacher called you about. He was so funny, but he was so disruptive. He was a loyal, kind human. He loved animals. Michael grew up in Tucson, went to Catalina High School, was a football player, prom king. He had a really big heart and a really big soul. … He had a serious football injury when he was in high school. That’s where he got his first taste of legal dope, and really could never get it together after that. I’m very open about his story; we need to call it exactly what it is.”

She’ll walk the procession in costume, holding a large picture of Michael. “My whole thing is letting his spirit go.”

Needless to say, I couldn’t do the walk because the dog died that day.  Good, that made me laugh as I was crying right now.

So, Renee Stambaugh and so many of the other wonderful parents I have met on this journey, how do we do it?  My answer: We do it.  I really don’t see any other way around it.

And we think about them, and do a special gesture, whatever that may be for you.  AND WE DO IT.  And we keep educating everyone we come in contact with about OPIOID ABUSE AND WE KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING.

So, as this Holiday about renewal is coming, remember the people you love, do something kind for someone, keep an open mind, don’t judge and help someone if you can and CELEBRATE LOVE, LOVE FOR GOD IF THAT’S YOUR THING, LOVE FOR THE UNIVERSE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY LOVE FOR YOU……..

And, No, I’m not depressed, I am pretty good.  Life is good and I am always blessed with abundance.

Love and More Love,

Well…..Says The Mouthy Mermaid…..It Took Renee to Get Me Motivated

Good Morning Dear Mermaid Sweet Friends,

The lives and times of Thelma Thomas The Mouthy Mermaid have been ok.  I have just been unmotivated about this blog and not knowing where to take it so I am going to take it wherever.  And I know you all will help me……

So, in my Mermaid travels, an interesting thing has happened, I manages Social Media for a few people, 1 person who is a wonderful writer and 1 person who owns a business.  I would like to take on one or 2 more people, so starting The Mouthy Mermaid has turned into a little side job for me.  I have met so many interesting and fun people doing this.  I love it.

In the mean time of life, I had to get a new computer, so of course I lost lots of material.  Of course.  But I am learning to print and save!!!!!!!!!!  Thank you Bob!!!!!

And Mermaid life in Tucson, Arizona continues.  No Easter Party this year, thank you God.  Our backyard is in a huge construction with the remodel of our pool.  God Bless the wonderful Mr. who is making the happen with his perfect credit score.  I think, when you don’t live a crazy life (like me)  you have a good credit score.  But I get all that now.  See a learning lesson.  Thank You God for giving me the ability to love my finances and pay my bills on time.  Gee, did it take me to age 60 to get all of that, I guess so.

And, friends of The Mouthy Mermaid continue to thrive and love and grow.  All is good with everyone.  Some changes:

Cousin Sunshine, my hero.

Cousin Sunshine now looks like a supermodel after her weight loss surgery and remember Dear Louise, well she finally left her husband and has been in our guest room for a few months.  See, lots of growth and movement happening here.  I have so good stories coming for ya all.

This is a new pic for Louise because hers was lost in all the computer stuff and I think she will like these shoes.

I think I have finally figured out wordpress.com as I have been up since 4 a.m. fooling with this site.  Because I have missed all of you.

And, now we are at Easter time, a special time and force in our world.  Aunt Rae Jacob wrote a really fabulous piece yesterday about Palm Sunday and Re-Setting your GPS.  I think that’s what I did to re motivate The Mouthy Mermaid, read about her at http://www.raejacobwrites.com

How do you Re-set your GPS?  I pretend I am laying on a table hooked up to a battery charger, Louise said, Really?????   You all know what I mean.

And, the political climate in the good old USA is still giving me a hard time.  I just don’t understand.  Enough said about that right now.  I think I will save an essay on 45 for a latter time, not during Holy Week.  Right?

So, the people I work with on their Social Media have a publishing calendar and that makes it all so much easier for everyone and I think I will put a publishing calendar together for The Mouthy Mermaid.

When I fist started this it was a joke, something to do and learn how to do.  Well, now I would love to someday REALLY publish something.  How that will happen I don’t know, but God knows, right??????

So, to all my Mermaid friends and supporters and the person who went out of her way to contact me, love and more love.  Ya all got me motivated to get off my duff and give the Mermaid the attention this blog needs.

Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Holy Week,

Happy Easter

You May Hear From Me Again This Week.  Keep you eyes open.

Love,

Thelma Thomas

Just Saying The Mouthy Mermaid Is Alive and Well

Dear Readers,

I know, it’s been so long.  Bad, bad me.  A reader contacted me today through a friend and I have been so remiss in doing NOTHING WITH THIS BLOG.  So, it’s time to get it moving again.

I have felt like I really didn’t know where to go after I deleted http://www.themouthymermaid.com by mistake and I was totally unmotivated to continue.

But, I am hearing my readers want to hear what’s happening in the life of the mouthy mermaid.

To start, life is fabulous or as fabulous as I choose.  All is well in our wonderful, blended family.

A very interesting thing has happened along the way, I am making Social Media Managing a bit of a business and have a few clients, family that I love and appreciate.  And I love and appreciate that they trust me to work with them.

And to my dear friend Renee, All is well and I promise to keep up The Mouthy Mermaid.

Love, Love Love

And Happy Easter,

Thelma, The Mouthy Mermaid

PS And now I have to remember how to work with this format.
